What Are The Different Types Of Entrance Doors?
Entrance doors are usually classified by material, structure, opening method, and the level of security expected from the complete door system. Steel, stainless steel, aluminum, armored, pivot, single-leaf, and double-leaf doors can all serve as entrance doors, but they suit different buildings and climates. As a custom entrance doors wholesale supplier, we normally begin with the opening and project conditions before discussing the style.

A Quick Guide to the main entrance door Types
| Entrance door type | Main advantage | Common applications |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminum entrance door | Corrosion resistance and design flexibility | Villas, residences, coastal projects |
| Steel Entrance Door | High structural strength | Houses, apartments, security-focused entrances |
| Stainless Steel Front Door | Durable metal surface and corrosion resistance | Humid areas, residential and commercial entrances |
| Armored entrance door | Reinforced security-focused construction | Luxury homes, villas, high-security properties |
| Pivot entrance door | Wide opening and strong visual impact | Large villas, mansions, statement entrances |
| Double entrance door | Wider access and balanced appearance | Large homes, hotels, reception entrances |
Material is only the first layer of the decision. Door-leaf thickness, frame structure, hinges, lock preparation, internal filling, threshold, sealing, and installation can change how two similar-looking doors perform.
Aluminum Entrance Doors
Aluminum works well for exterior entrances exposed to humidity or frequent rain because it does not develop red rust in the same way as untreated carbon steel. It is also suitable for large decorative panels, modern lines, metallic finishes, and double-door arrangements.
Our residential aluminum entrance doors use high-strength aluminum profiles, multi-layer aluminum panels, and a stainless steel inner lining according to the selected design. Colors, decorative panels, door frames, opening directions, locks, and hardware can be matched to the building rather than forcing every project into one fixed model.
Aluminum is often chosen for villas, private residences, and developments where the entrance needs a clean architectural finish without becoming difficult to maintain.
Steel Entrance Doors
Steel is a practical choice when rigidity and resistance to impact are major concerns. A strong steel door, however, is not defined by the outer sheet alone. The frame, reinforced lock area, hinges, internal structure, and fit between the leaf and frame all contribute to security.
Our steel entrance doors are made for residential and project entrances that require a solid metal structure. Panel patterns, frame profiles, colors, opening methods, and lock configurations can be adapted to the order.
Steel should receive a suitable surface finish, particularly in humid or exposed locations. Local climate and maintenance expectations need to be considered before the finish is confirmed.
Stainless Steel Front Doors
Stainless steel combines strength with better resistance to corrosion than ordinary untreated steel. It is well suited to entrances where the metal surface, security structure, and long service life are all important.
One of our high-security stainless steel front doors uses 304 stainless steel, a 90 mm door leaf, a stainless steel lock body, and a 1.0 mm rear plate. The door can open inward or outward, while its color, decorative panel, frame structure, and lock can be customized.
Stainless steel is often preferred for humid regions, urban residences, apartment entrances, and projects that want a metallic appearance with less concern about red rust.
Armored Entrance Doors
An armored door brings the structural frame, exterior panels, reinforcement, hinges, and locking system together as one security-focused unit. It is different from adding a decorative metal sheet to an ordinary door.
Our Light Luxury Armored Doors use steel-and-aluminum composite structures in selected models. A typical configuration can include precision-carved aluminum front panels, a reinforced inner structure, a 90 mm door leaf, and stainless steel hardware.
These doors are suitable for villas and high-end residences where security and entrance design carry equal weight. Mocha brown, antique brass, metallic gray, and other finishes can be coordinated with the façade.
Pivot, Single, and Double Doors
A single-leaf door is the most straightforward choice for a normal residential entrance. It uses one active leaf and is easier to fit into a moderate opening.
Double doors create a wider passage and a more symmetrical frontage. They work well for large villas, reception areas, and buildings where furniture or equipment must pass through the entrance.
Pivot doors rotate around a pivot point rather than relying only on conventional side hinges. Their large scale makes them visually impressive, but the opening, floor structure, door weight, and hardware must be planned together.
How Should the Type Be Chosen?
Start with the wall opening and the conditions outside the building. A door facing heavy rain needs different sealing and threshold details from one located beneath a deep porch. A coastal project may favor aluminum or stainless steel, while a security-focused urban entrance may place more emphasis on a reinforced steel or armored structure.
The most useful information to prepare includes:
Structural opening size
Wall thickness
Inward or outward opening
Single, double, or pivot arrangement
Local climate
Security expectations
Preferred material and color
Lock and handle requirements
Project quantity
We began producing entrance doors in Foshan in 1979 and now manufacture aluminum, steel, stainless steel, armored, and other custom entrance systems. Automated equipment and ERP-managed planning help us coordinate non-standard sizes and repeated project orders.
